If Prince and Jimi Hendrix had a love child (even though that sounds really strange) we think the product would be Darren Hart.
Hart's electro-pop meets Hendrix debut EP "Offtime" released on March 1st this year, which followed the success of the singles ‘All Too Real’ and 'The Music', which not only received airplay on Triple j in Australia, but on BBC6 in the UK + US College Radio WCWM in Williamsburg, WPPJ in Pittsburgh, PA, WGMU in Fairfax, VA (#15) to go along with continued support at KXUA (#30) and core WXCI (#6)! As well as a ton of online blog features, 160K+ Soundcloud plays and airplay on Australian late night music TV Rage, his music has gone on to catch the attention of many across the globe, including Pnau and Empire of the Sun's Nick Littlemore, and most recently Prince's management. Now parted ways with label Island Records/Universal Music, Harts and his new single "Leavn It All Behind" are as independent as can be. In typical Harts fashion, he wrote, recorded, and played all the instruments, produced, arranged and mixed this track himself. "Leavn It All Behind" is 6 minutes of disco-funk jam, hooky falsetto vocals, funky guitar and dirty rock edge. Oh, and it definitely isn't lacking in that signature Harts guitar playing!
'Leavn It' is essentially written about change and moving on. An uneasy but positive message on just walking away from broken promises, propaganda and people leading you on." Says Harts.
