Check out this stream of Papa Vs Pretty's latest track One Of The Animals, and the first to be revealed from their debut album, 'United In Isolation' (to be released on 27 May) .
'United In Isolation' (the follow up to 2010's Heavy Harm EP), will see Papa Vs Pretty move into a new headspace that's all about the energy of their rave reviewed, enigmatic live shows.
The album was made with ARIA Award winning Producer / Engineer Paul McKercher (You Am I / Augie March / Sarah Blasko) and mixed by Scott Horscroft (Silverchair / Little Red / The Presets).
Papa Vs Pretty saw a strong wave of support off the back of their recent Heavy Harm EP, with tracks including Heavy Harm and Wrecking Ball hitting the airwaves in 2010. Their intensely energetic live sets have also garnered them plenty of fans on their rise through the ranks of the rock'n'roll scene, with crowd favourites like I Still Believe In Us showing up their strengths.
Frontman Thomas Rawle said of the new album, United In Isolation: "This album was written over the space of a few months and recorded over 2 months between BJB and Oceanic studios, it has a main focal point lyrically and was all written about the one thing. It's almost a concept album in that sense. In a very broad sense its about human natures desire to always be coupled with another, and how love can sometimes be a vessel of selfishness. It's almost like animal behavior and I guess we are animals, just with language and ego."
"The album works in an arc too, almost like a relationship, it starts out with an immense amount of energy "Life's Got A Hold On Me", optimistic in the middle with songs like "Honey" then conquest "Conquistador" one half always wins, then ‘I Felt Nothing’ for falling out of love, then it ends with ‘You Are Not In Love Anymore’, which is pretty self explanatory I would hope!"
